There were two personal visits and member cocktail mixers in the Atlantic
Region in 2002-2003.
|
|
| |
The society will be looking to expand membership and membership services
in this region in 2004.
|
|
| |
Development in Newfoundland will be assisted by Mr. Ian Bradbury. More
ties are hoped to be forged in New Brunswick with the help of Yves
Juteau & Bryant
Petkau of JD Irving. In PEI we look to move forward with the continued
support of Mr. Richard Godin of Veterans Affairs. Finally our actions
in Nova Scotia hope to expand with the assistance of Mr. Richard Diotte
from
Nova Scotia Community College.
|
|
| |

I would firstly like to thank Don Watson and Chris McColm for their ongoing
support as Prairie Region Executive members.
|
|
| |
The past year continued to be a challenge for both CSIS itself and in
particular the Prairie Region. Fundamentally distance continues to be a
challenge within the Prairie Region which consists of Manitoba, Saskatchewan
and Alberta.
|
|
| |
The Region has twenty-three members spread through these three Provinces,
but is poised, as is CSIS, Inc. nationally, to grow.
|
|
| |
Our energies in the past year have been primarily spent in actively
representing the Region within the national forum to ensure strong feedback
and future
planning assistance in building CSIS, Inc. as the organization of choice,
an organization poised for growth and an organization advocating strongly
as a “Canadian Voice” of the security practitioner.
|
|
| |
We are there.
|
|
| |
For the future, the Region is currently discussing hosting educational
events targeted at both CSIS, Inc. Members and external security professionals.
This will breathe new life into the Prairie Region setting the stage for
renewed member communication and activities while focusing on new membership
growth. As certification and education activities are cornerstone to our
current national strategic plans, these will be expanded within the Region,
again adding value to CSIS membership.
Communication continues to be a priority as we build for the future.
|
|
| |
The support that is now in place at the CSIS Head Office
is invaluable. I’d like to thank Gord, Tracey and David as they
provide ever-expanding services to our membership. Your National Board continues to provide strong leadership as does
our President Graham Ospreay – my sincere thanks to them as well.
|
|
| |
The Prairie Region continues to be committed to the future of a truly
Canadian security organization in the promotion of professional security
leadership throgh ethics, standards and education. We’ve lots
of work to do, we invite everyone to get involved!

the assistance of current members we are looking to significantly boost

offered by the society.
|
|
| |

would like to be set up and are looking for assistance in the following
areas:
|
|

As I come to the end of my term, I am happy to say that CSIS activity
in the region is progressing well.
Credit must be given to the Toronto Chapter for keeping an interesting program
and successful meetings.
|
|
| |
As sponsor of the CSIS Annual Convention and General Meeting for 2003,
they have endured very difficult times and decisions due to the SARS issue.
Their hard work and extraordinary efforts are appreciated.
|
|
| |
The true thrust in the region is the creation of chapters, to better
serve our members. The successful initiatives of Gord Pinder with the colleges
are proving to be in the right direction as we have awarded a charter to
the Loyalist College Chapter and are working on Algonquin College in Ottawa
and St. Lawrence College in Kingston.
|
|
| |
The involvement of the students in CSIS is critical to the future of
our organization. We will continue in the effort to create chapters in
the region at the colleges as well as any area that has enough member interest
to support a functioning chapter.
|
|
| |
The certification and accreditation programs are taking shape and being
revitalized. Promotion of these programs is necessary to give the programs
credence. I encourage all of our regional members to look into the challenge
of verifying your professionalism.
|
|
| |
We are learning to adapt to new ways of doing things.
|
|
| |
We need to be flexible enough to change our ways of doing things to suit
the needs of our members.
In some cases this means that fewer meetings and increased activities may be
what a given chapter wants.
|
|
| |
Change is inevitable, even for security dinosaurs!
