GTA Chapter
May 20, 2010 - Four Points by Sheraton - Toronto Airport Hotel - 5:30 pm Registration
Our Presentation this month "Getting Past the Hype and Hyperbole: How to Operationalize Your Bill 168 Compliance Program" will provide you with a practical "how to" roadmap on the required steps you need to undertake in order to achieve compliance.
Presentation Outline: For many months now, OH&S, Legal and HR experts have made presentations warning about the looming impact of Bill 168. Missing in much of the ground covered to date has been practical guidance to help synthesize the new law and much of the abstract opinion into understandable, actionable, operational steps to achieve Bill 168 compliance. Our speaker this month is ideally positioned to offer such a practical "how-to" roadmap. This may not be your first Bill 168 seminar but the insights you will gain may well make it your last.
About our Presenter : David Hyde, M.Sc, CPC is a security and safety management professional with experience across a diverse range of business settings. Over his 25-year career he has owned and operated an award winning business, guided security at some of Canada's highest profile landmarks, and led the enterprise security management program for a $17 billion global corporation. As a former corporate security executive with Cadillac Fairview in Toronto, David established the national security strategy and set company policy for security and crisis management across 83 site locations. He assembled and trained a dedicated and successful team of 5 regional security directors, 40 local security managers and almost 550 front-line security personnel.
David holds a Master of Science Degree (with Distinction) in Security & Risk Management from the University of Leicester and a Certificate in Security Management from the University of Calgary. He has completed The Wharton School's Security Executive Development Program and is a Certified Advanced Level CPTED Practitioner. He also holds the Certified Professional Coach (CPC) designation from the International Institute of Professional Coaching. David is an accomplished presenter, author and instructor. Since 2005, he has taught workplace crime and violence prevention courses for the Faculty of Continuing Education at the University of Calgary.
In 2010, David formed a security, crime prevention and risk management consulting practice based in Toronto. He has studied Bill 168 since its First Reading in April, 2009 and has worked at length on compliance strategy - both prior to leaving his position as National Security Director for Cadillac Fairview and now that he is practicing independently as 'David Hyde & Associates'. David is presently assisting clients from a number of business sectors in adopting an integrated, standards-based approach to Bill 168 compliance.
The meeting notices are attached and the deadline to register by is Noon on Tuesday May 18. Please plan to attend and register early.
